Cookie & Local Storage Policy

This policy covers the browser storage — cookies and localStorage — used by the FiveForge website (the “Service”). Unlike many sites, FiveForge does not use a cookie-consent layer with dozens of toggleable categories, because the Service stores only a small number of essential items, described in full below.

The items in this policy are the only browser-storage items the website sets. If it is not listed here, the website does not store it in your browser.

When you sign in, Supabase — our authentication provider — issues session cookies so you stay authenticated as you move through the Service:

• sb-<project-ref>-auth-token* — Essential Supabase session cookies issued on sign-in to keep you authenticated. (Essential (authentication)).

These cookies are essential to the Service: without them, you cannot stay signed in. They contain session information tied to your Supabase session and are not used for advertising, analytics, or tracking across third-party sites.

In addition to the authentication cookies, the website stores two small items in browser localStorage. Each is local to your device and never sent to third parties:

• fiveforge-recent-searches — Stores your last few documentation search queries locally for convenience..
• ff_support_session — Stores a random session id used to rate-limit the support chat widget..

To be explicit about what is absent from the Service:

• no analytics cookies, analytics beacons, or usage-tracking scripts;
• no advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or advertising identifiers;
• no social-media share/sync cookies from third-party platforms;
• no cross-site tracking of your browsing behavior;
• no device fingerprinting or hardware-identification storage;
• no third-party cookie banners, because there are no third-party cookies on the public website.

The desktop application follows the same principle: the website code does not collect telemetry, crash reports, hardware identifiers, or usage analytics from the desktop app.

Because the storage items above are essential or convenience-only, you can manage all of them through your browser's built-in controls, without needing a site-specific consent tool:

• Delete or block cookies. Use your browser's cookie settings to view, block, or delete the Supabase session cookies. Blocking them will sign you out of the Service and may prevent you from signing in.
• Clear localStorage. Use your browser's site-data / storage settings to clear fiveforge-recent-searches and ff_support_session at any time; this only clears your local search history and resets the support widget's rate-limit identifier.
• Private browsing. Using a private/incognito window prevents these items from persisting after you close the window.

If the Service ever begins using additional storage items, this policy will be updated to list them before they are relied upon in practice. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision.
